課程概述

介紹過去二十年間,在都市規劃、治理與發展上相當具有主導性的新自由主義之興起背景及其對都市發展的影響。課程首先解析這個襲捲全球城市發展的新自由化都市主義背後的政治與意識型態,進而探索新自由化都市主義發展與演變的多重與多元化脈絡,接著從新自由主義的都市規劃與都市治理來瞭解其對都市發展的影響,再從政治經濟機制與政治生態向度檢視新自由主義化的都市發展樣態與課題,亦即分別討論新自由主義對都市再發展、晉紳化、社會與空間極化、都市文化襲產、都市生態與自然的再造、都市氣候與災害的治理等層面的影響。 

課程目標
本課程以專題討論的方式,協助修課同建立新自由主義化都市主義的進階性知識基礎,並發展批判性思考與獨立分析的能力,以具備檢視當代一般城市與修課學生所熟悉的城市之新自由主義化的發展脈絡與特徵。

 
課程要求
課程進行方式,以授課教師導讀性地說明開始,再請修課同學選擇較有興趣的主題,輪流主導書報討論,各週負責報告同學應提供書面的摘要,說明文章的問題意識、主要觀(論)點與內容,並於上課前和授課教師討論後,提出討論提綱與問題。每位修課同學除輪流主導書報討論外,也應閱讀授課導師每週指定的核心讀物,並於每週上課中午前繳交至少半頁的摘要及一至兩個討論問題或需釐清的問題。
本課程到學期中,修課學生需開始與授課教師規劃討論有興趣的都市課題,並建議田野分享與考察的地點,學期後半段逐步報告期末報告的構想,最後於期末繳交一篇和本課程主題相關的期末報告,報告長度(含引用文獻)以十五至二十頁為原則。
